Would I be an employee of Daydream Adventures Travel Company?
No, you would be an Independent Contractor who has a contract for a partnership with Daydream Adventures Travel Company. As an Independent Contractor, you have the freedom to work and grow your business as your schedule allows. While we do have a contract that outlines the commission rates and other important details, there is no contract commitment. Either party may cancel the contract at any time and for any reason. You are in control of your own business!
What and how would I be paid?
Each travel vendor sets their own commission rates that they pay to the agency. The agency has two commission rates, new agents would receive 50% of the commission received by the agency while they are in the training period. The training period lasts for the first five vacation packages booked. During this training period, new agents would be shadowing experienced agents to learn first-hand how to manage a booking. Once the training period is completed, new agents would become experienced agents and would earn 75% of the commission that the agency receives from the vendor. Agents who have previously partnered with other agencies would start at the 75% commission rate after providing proof of experience.
Commission payments are sent out twice a month. Agents are responsible for submitting commission reports prior to pay day for verification.
Is there a fee to join?
No! There are no fees that you will pay DATC directly. Depending on your needs, you may choose to expand your tools to gain more leads through social media ads, more robust software, or local memberships. These would be considered business expenses and not part of your partnership. The only fee that would be required is an annual tax form preparation which is paid directly to our accounting firm.
What type of training do you provide?
Each vendor offers their own training program which upon completion will certify you to begin selling that destination. In addition to vendor trainings, DATC offers an introduction into sales training. This training will educate you on our processes, best practices, and account management. We also offer monthly training sessions on various topics such as selling tactics, social media, and building your business. These trainings are optional but a valuable resource.
Is travel or sales experience necessary?
No! We believe everyone has to start somewhere and we would love to be able to provide you with the opportunity to learn and grow alongside our team. If you have a love of travel, an energetic personality, and a drive to succeed, we’ll handle the rest.
Do I need to have an LLC?
No, Independent Contractors may determine if an LLC makes sense for their business. We recommend everyone research the benefits of an LLC and speak to professionals familiar with their local regulations and recommendations.
What benefits do I receive as a travel agent?
Each vendor provides travel agent rates that are connected with their training programs. There’s also the opportunity to apply for an individual CLIA membership which provides further discounts. CLIA memberships are $139 per year and follow a calendar year, depending on your travel plans and when you apply for a membership it may or may not make sense for you.
Are there sales quotas?
Never! DATC supports all agents whether you want to be a casual agent who only books for friends and families or build a successful business and career. Agents of all levels are welcomed at DATC.
Do you provide leads?
Yes, inquiries submitted to our website and social media are reviewed and assigned to agents sequentially.
Do I need a social media presence?
No, but you will need a marketing plan for how you will promote your business. Many agents choose a combination of social media, local promotions, and word of mouth.
